Instrumentation for Molecular and Nanoscale Innovation

NanoTools Facility

The NanoTools Facility (NTF) provides access to characterization instrumentation and technical support for advanced research.

The NanoTools Facility (NTF) enables users to develop skills and conduct research using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman Spectroscopy, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). It is organized primarily as a self-use laboratory, which allows users the opportunity to develop critical skills to perform advanced research. The NTF technical staff will provide new users with practical training, including the facility standard operating procedures, safety training requirements and instrument operation. In addition to supporting authorized users, the NTF technical staff is also available to perform instrument runs for researchers.

The NTF is administered by Instrumentation for Molecular and Nanoscale Innovation (IMNI) and is run on a user fee basis, where the fees collected are used to partially offset operational expenses. The NTF is available to researchers from all Brown University departments as well as external researchers from academic institutions and commercial organizations
