Instrumentation for Molecular and Nanoscale Innovation

Electron Microscopy Facility

The Electron Microscopy Facility (EMF) provides a broad range of electron imaging, chemical analysis, and sample preparation techniques.

The Electron Microscopy Facility (EMF) houses a suite of electron imaging and surface analysis tools. It is organized primarily as a self-use facility, allowing users the opportunity to develop critical skills to perform advanced research. The EMF technical staff will provide new users with practical training, including the facility standard operating procedures, safety training requirements and instrument operation. In addition to supporting authorized users, the EMF technical staff is also available to perform instrument operations for researchers.

The EMF is administered by Instrumentation for Molecular and Nanoscale Innovation (IMNI) and is run on a user fee basis, where the fees collected are used to partially offset operational expenses. The EMF is available to researchers from all Brown University departments as well as external researchers from academic institutions and commercial organizations.
